Before you ask for a quote, decide
- Slab or pier and beam foundation?
- Whole house or specific walls, rooms or problem areas?
- Whether a deadline applies, such as a real-estate closing date or a planned renovation.
Questions to ask every company
- What exactly is included: pier type and count, slab or pier and beam work, drainage, plumbing test, and warranty terms?
- How do you decide the pier type, the pier count and the target depth, and what happens to the price if more piers or greater depth are needed once work starts?
- Do you take whole-house elevation measurements before quoting, and do you test the under-slab plumbing after lifting?
- Who does the work — your own crew or subcontractors — what is the timeline, and what disruption should I expect?
- What does the warranty cover, for how long, does it transfer to a new owner, and what maintenance does it require?
- Is the price a firm written quote for this exact scope, and what would change it?
